This segment opens with a brightly colorful Street Dance of local women, in which several of the touring group join in the fan dance, accompanied by a small band of men playing drums, cymbals, and other unique and ancient Chinese instruments.

This street dance scene will be especially memorable to those of our tour who joined in the festivities with their bright red fans sashaying right along with colorful Chinese women.

From this festive scene, the filming moves out to the edges of the Kumming Lake, where dragon boats will glide us across a huge manmade, hand dug shovel by shovel lake, where the Summer Palace was created during the Ming Dynasty to escape the heat of Beijing.

I feel such sympathy for the Chinese people when I view these elaborate constructions built on their sweat and tears. I am hopeful that our world can become more enlightened and work for the least of our bretheren, instead of the least working for the smallest and most ruthless. Too often the worst of humanity rises to the top, excercising their power to the detriment of all mankind.

Immense public work projects such as this, the building of the canals, and the Great Wall, demonstrate the immense power held over the people of China, who performed these Herculean tasks as their taxes and enforced labor projects.

Few would have volunteered to do so.

I am hopeful that the current governing in China truly is a act of devotion and concern and represents the common man and woman, and is evolving to become better and more participatory and responsible to the consciousness needed to create a better world. I pray for the Chinese, and for us all, that this might be so. We are all united together, eternally bonded.
